Meet our team

Ryan McDonnell: Broker/Co-Owner

As a co-founder and owner of Hawthorn Real Estate, Ryan McDonnell comes to the real estate business with a background in project management and client service. Since the inception of Hawthorn Real Estate, Ryan has been working with buyers and sellers on brokerage deals while managing construction projects for Hawthorn and customers alike. Ryan brings a career in client service and an analytical and financial approach to real estate sales and development. Ryan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Wallace E. Carroll School of Management at Boston College and is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and a member of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, the Greater Boston Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. Additionally, Ryan is a licensed construction supervisor and a home improvement contractor.

Mathew Roth: Broker/Co-Owner

Mathew Roth, a co-founder and owner of Hawthorn Real Estate, has been in the real estate business for over 15 years working for financial institutions and real estate development companies. Formerly, Mat was a successful real estate investment sales broker with Marcus & Millichap in New York. Mat holds a MS degree in Real Estate from New York University. His degree focused on investment and development of residential and commercial real estate. Mat received his undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester where he majored in Economics. While at Rochester, Mat also received a Certificate of Business Management from the William E. Simon School of Business. Mat’s credentials also include: a Massachusetts Real Estate Broker license, a New York Real Estate Salesperson license and Series 7, 63 and 55 licenses. Mat is also a licensed construction supervisor and a home improvement contractor.

Ken Chase: Sales Team

Ken Chase has a broad base of experience in the real estate industry spanning more than five years. In addition to working as a real estate agent with Hawthorn Properties, Ken has worked extensively as an investor and lender. He brings a highly analytical approach to evaluating real estate. Ken is a co-founder of Atlas Funding and Atlas Funding Institutional – companies that lend to developers and builders for construction in the Greater Boston area.

Prior to his career in real estate Ken worked with Booz & Company for six years, a strategy consulting firm where he held the title of Principal. Ken holds a BA degree in Economics from Union College and an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth. Ken resides in Wayland, MA with his wife and two young children.

Steve Blondin: Sales Team

Steve Blondin brings a well-rounded background in client service, real estate and marketing to Hawthorn Properties. In addition to his experience in residential brokerage across eastern and central Massachusetts, Steve has worked in commercial real estate for over four years, encompassing a diverse range of site selection, valuation and consulting projects. At Birch|REA Partners in Wellesley, MA, he provided advisory and valuation services to a variety of clients for retail, office, industrial, multi-family and mixed-use properties. Prior to his career in real estate, Steve worked in the technology marketing field for over seven years, most recently as a Senior Account Manager with Burlington, MA-based e-Dialog.

Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University, and is licensed as a Real Estate Salesperson and Appraisal Trainee in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He has also completed numerous real estate and financial analysis courses through the Appraisal Institute and Boston University.

Iryna Sabor: Sales Team

Iryna Sabor moved to Boston in 2001 from Ukraine. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a Bachelors degree in Political Science, she entered the real estate industry and works with buyers and sellers throughout Eastern Massachusetts. Currently, Iryna is attending the Suffolk University Law School in pursuit of her J.D. She brings a research-based approach to real estate sales and is fluent in both Ukrainian and Russian. Iryna is a licensed Massachusetts Real Estate Salesperson.
